IE 10 Will Enable “Do Not Track” Option By Default

Last week, Microsoft announced that Internet Explorer (IE) 10 will enable the “do not track” (or DNT) feature by default. This means the browser will reject all tracking requests unless you manually enable them. DNT is nothing new. It is present in other browsers, but disabled by default. With Windows 8, Microsoft is planning to enable it automatically. Needless to say, this move has not made Microsoft popular with advertisers. To make matters worse, the working group behind the DNT standard is claiming this move will make IE 10 a non-compliant browser, and therefore will not be supported. Oh my! This seems like a big game of e-chicken.
