Windows Will Be FREE For Mobile Device Manufacturers

Ever since Satya Nadella took over as Microsoft’s new CEO, the company has been making significant changes. They recently released Office for iOS and re-branded their cloud platform. Now, they’re making a huge change to the Windows licensing model. The software giant just announced they’ll stop charging hardware manufacturers to license Windows on their mobile devices. Currently, companies like Nokia, LG, and HTC have to pay Microsoft to license Windows 8 on their handsets and tablets. Now, this fee is being waived for OEMs. Needless to say, Microsoft hopes this move will cause more manufacturers to consider Windows for smartphones and tablets. This could help Windows gain some ground on iOS and Android.
