Facebook Wants To Listen For Your Current Status

Facebook just unveiled a new feature that listens to your surroundings during status updates. Similar to how Shazam identifies songs, this feature attempts to recognize TV shows, movies, or music playing in the background. Just like many Facebook features, you have to “opt in” to utilize this technology. And just like everything Facebook does, this comes with a slew of privacy concerns. If they can listen for music and movies, what else can they listen for? It’s cool technology, but is it too invasive?
