Geek Of The Week: Roger Arrick

Roger Arrick is the owner and operator of Arrick Robotics, based in Tyler, Texas. The company builds robots and also helps others build their own robots. Arrick started the company in 1987 with a $1000 initial investment. He just wanted to turn his hobby of building cool things into a job. That’s exactly what he did. Today, Arrick Robotics supplies robots to manufacturing firms all over the world. All of the robots, including the one shown above, are designed by Arrick himself.

He is also the owner and operator of, which builds and sells high-end analog music synthesizers comparable to (and patterned after) the original Moog systems from the 1960s. These instruments are unique in that they are 100% modular. You can start with just a few components and add more to build a feature-rich synthesizer. In fact, there’s really no end to what you can do with enough space. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on one of Arrick’s synthesizers for many years, but I haven’t been able to justify the expense thus far. From what I understand though, they’re worth every penny. Everyone just raves about them. I’ve heard various sound clips from them and they sound AMAZING.
