Last night, NASA & Orbital had plans to launch an Antares rocket from the Atlantic coast in Virginia. The unmanned rocket was loaded with 5055 lbs. of supplies and experiments (including the next Cygnus drone) for the International Space Station (ISS). The rocket exploded mid air about 6 seconds after lift off at approximately 6:22 PM EST yesterday. The cause of the explosion has not yet been made public, but obviously, it was not planned and will cause some setbacks for future ISS supply missions. Luckily nobody was injured, but the estimated loss was around $200,000,000. Ouch!
