Apple Ordered To Pay Smartflash $533 Million

Texas-based company Smartflash claims Apple infringed on three of their patents related to storing and managing data. The small company took the Mac maker to court and sued them for $850 Million. The courts agreed that iTunes has violated these three patents and they ordered Apple to pay $533 Million in damages. While this amount was much less than Smartflash had hoped, it is still a lot of money. Apple claims the actual damages were closer to $4.5 Million and they plan to appeal the decision.
