Apple Buys Metaio

During yesterday’s Google I/O conference, the search engine revealed Cardboard and Project Jump. These new technologies show the company’s interest in the virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) space, even after the demise of Glass. Shortly after Google made these announcements, Apple revealed their acquisition of the German firm Metaio. The software company focuses on AR solutions for retail, industrial, and automotive markets. For instance, their app can allow you to view a room and virtually rearrange the furniture. Needless to say, analysts are speculating as to what value Apple sees in this company. Is the Mac maker planning their own version of Google Glass? Or Google Cardboard?
