Hackers Target “Cheating” Website

Most of us probably remember when www.AdultFriendFinder.com reported a data breach earlier this year. It feels a lot like deja vu as news recently broke indicating adult dating website www.AshleyMadison.com was hacked. The website is primarily used by married men and women looking to have extramarital affairs. The site’s slogan is actually, “life is short, have an affair.” The details of the breach are still a bit fuzzy, but it appears a group of hackers may have gained access to databases containing users’ real names, addresses, provocative photos,¬†and profile details (including sexual fantasies). Needless to say, this type of information can easily be used to blackmail the website’s patrons. Law enforcement agencies have been involved and are conducting a full investigation.
