New Yahoo! Mail App Doesn’t Use Passwords

Many analysts are predicting passwords will go the way of the dodo in the future. Yahoo! just released an updated mail app which takes a step in this direction. Opposed to the traditional username/password entry, the updated app (available on iOS and Android) uses a new technology called Yahoo! Account Key. By leveraging this new feature, users can login from their smartphone without needing to type a password. Essentially, the smartphone itself becomes your password. Yahoo! has plans eventually roll out this feature to all their apps and online services.
