Astronomers Discover Extremely Hot Planet

Researchers have reason to believe KELT-9b, a gas planet discovered in 2014, has a surface temperature that is nearly as hot as our Sun. That’s right. Based on research, it is believed the planet’s surface reaches a temperature of 7800 degrees Fahrenheit, which is approximately 2000 degrees cooler than the Sun. It’s believed to be so hot that compounds like water and carbon dioxide can’t even form. The hot planet is approximately 650 light years from Earth.
