YouTube Recognizes Not All Videos Are Horizontal

It’s safe to say YouTube has changed the way we share videos. From it’s humble beginnings in 2012, the site has grown into a broadcasting empire. There have been many changes along the way, but the upcoming changes to their mobile app is subtle, yet awesome. Up to this point, the player has always been a horizontal black box. So vertical or square videos have black bars on both sides (and panoramic videos have a black bar on top/bottom). Soon, the app will adapt to support the format of the video (examples shown above). This seems like a simple change but it will significantly change the user experience.
