Jaguar To Battle Tesla In Electric SUV Market

Tesla’s Model X electric SUV has been well received by consumers. However, the vehicle was initially back-ordered to the point that it affected sales. Initial deliveries were late and only 6 shipped the first quarter. Since then, the production has ramped up with over 13,000 units shipped during Q4 of 2017. It looks like other auto manufacturers are taking note because Jaguar just unveiled a new electric SUV, the 2019 I-Pace. It is slightly smaller than the Model X but has about the same range. The base price is a bit higher than the Model X but Jaguar thinks they can easily meet consumer demand. It will be interesting to see how this works out for both companies.
