Kaspersky Discovers New Sophisticated Malware Strains

Kaspersky Labs just discovered some new malware strains that they describe as “masterpieces.” The malicious code actually attacks MikroTik routers, and replaces a library file on the network device. It then uses more malicious code to infect the attached PCs and steal information. The malware has been dubbed Slingshot by the media. Kaspersky has confirmed MikroTek routers are affected by this attack but fears others may be affected as well. It is important to note that MikroTek has an update available that addresses this attack.
