Uber Files Patent For Drunk Detecting App

Uber, and other rideshare companies, have made a difference in the number of drunk drivers on the road. When patrons can simply open an app and click for a ride, less and less people are trying to drive home after a few too many. However, this comes with aside effect. Many Uber drivers are tired of carting around drunks.

Inevitably, this is a side effect. However, Uber recently filed a patent that could warn the drivers in advance. The company appears to be working on an app that will try to determine if you’re tipsy when you need a ride. The app will factor in things like location, walking speed, misspellings, and more to make these decisions. Then the drivers can know what they’re in for before they take that fare. Likewise, they can choose to only alert drivers who have experience dealing with drunks.
