Geek Of The Week: Steve Roach

Steve Roach is an electronic music composer who is well-known in the ambient music genre. However, he wasn’t always a musician. In his early 20’s, Roach had a career as a motocross racer. After teaching himself to play synthesizer, Roach decided he wanted to be a musician and did just that. His first studio album was released in 1982, and he’s released over 100 since then making a successful career as a composer. Incorporating folk instruments like didgeridoo and traditional drums, Roach became a revered artist in the ambient music community and his work has inspired generations of other artists.
