A Dozen Tech Startups That Failed This Year

It seems like we constantly hear about big companies like Facebook or Apple buying up startups for outrageous amounts of money. This makes everyone think they should start a company, gain some customers, sell it to the highest bidder, and retire. While the practice does work out for a select few, it’s sometimes good to do a reality check. I came across THIS ARTICLE about 12 tech startups who failed in 2018. The list is below.

  • Theranos, founded 2003
  • Rethink Robotics, founded 2008
  • Shyp, founded 2013
  • Apprenda, founded 2007
  • Airware, founded 2011
  • Alta Motors, founded 2010
  • Primary Data, founded 2013
  • CareSync, founded 2011
  • Bluesmart, founded 2013
  • Lantern, founded 2012
  • Raden, founded 2015
  • Fieldbook, founded 2013
It may be a little bit depressing, but it’s always good to see the other side of what makes the evening news. Unfortunately, not every good idea survives the rigors of the business world. Making a tech startup succeed is a lot of hard work… and sometimes a bit of luck.
