Geek(s) Of The Week: Plumtree

Filling in for Mike this week…

Plumtree was an all female rock band which formed in the early-1990s. At the time, the band members were all between 14 and 16 years of age. The Canadian 4-piece recorded 4 studio albums between 1994 and 2000. Their style is considered indie rock or power pop, but many say they are a part of the geek rock genre.

They quickly gained a following in Canada and toured the US several times. Plumtree’s second album, released in 1997, included a song titled Scott Pilgrim. It was this song that inspired the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel written by Brian Lee O’Malley (not the other way around). Any band that inspires a comic book should definitely be a GOTW.
