Forgotten Nintendo Game Sells For $9K At Auction

Scott Amos from Reno, NV recently had a great week as he sold a forgotten NES cartridge for a whopping $9000 at auction. The man’s mom had been bugging him to get some boxes containing childhood items out of her attic. Amos complied and when he went through the boxes, he found an unopened copy of Kid Icarus for NES.

The JC Penny bag which contained the game had a receipt for $34.99. The receipt was dated 1988, indicating the game had probably been sitting in the attic for over 30 years. Amos thought he could see it for “a couple hundred bucks”, but was surprised to find out this rare game sold for $9000 at auction. Reportedly, there are less than 10 known unopened copies of Kid Icarus in existence.
