ESA & SpaceX Satellites Nearly Collide In Space

We know there are almost 5,000 satellites orbiting Earth at any given minute. Surprisingly, they don’t collide with each other. That almost changed this week as a satellite from the European Space Agency (ESA) nearly smashed into one of SpaceX’s Constellation systems orbiting the planet. Luckily, the ESA detected the object and was able to increase its altitude in enough time to prevent impact. SpaceX hopes to have over 1000 Constellation satellites in orbit at some point. The ESA warns that as the number of objects orbiting Earth increases, collisions like these will become more likely.
