Teenage NASA Intern Discovers New Planet

A 17 year old boy named Wolf Cukier got the chance of a lifetime as he became a NASA intern. The teenager was hired to study the brightness of stars captured by NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS). However, on his third day of work, he discovered a new planet. TOI 1338 is about seven times the size of the Earth and is located approximately 13,000 light years away. It appears to be orbiting two stars. When interviewed, the teenager said of the new planet, “If you think to Luke’s homeworld, Tatooine, from Star Wars, it’s like that. Every sunset, there’s gonna be two stars setting.” I like this kid.
