Study: Preschoolers Are Using Apps Designed For Adults

A recent study found that children as young as age 3 may be regularly using apps with content designed for adults. The study examined the app usage of 350 kids, ages 3 and 4, for a 9 month period. It found the children used dozens of apps that were designed for ages 17+ during that period. Many of the downloads were advertised to the children while they were using other apps and the kids were able to successfully find them via the app store. Obviously, this shows there are a lot of gaps in the mobile software ecosystem, but the researchers recommend all parents review their child’s app store settings.
