Latest Windows Update Obliterates Flash

Microsoft has had a checkered record with Windows 10 Updates. Some of them have gone smoothly, but many have caused a series of update woes. The latest, KB4577586 , removes Flash completely from all supported Windows versions – including Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012/2016/2019. While this seems simple enough, analysts are already expecting problems from this patch. In 2017, the industry announced plans to move away from Adobe Flash by the end of 2020. With the end of the year rapidly approaching, Microsoft is wanting a head start. All the popular browsers have been displaying Flash warning messages over the past few years. Apple’s Safari browser stopped supporting Flash last month and both Firefox and Chrome plan to do the same in December.
