About a year ago, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip and the reviews were underwhelming to say the least. With a $1380 price tag, the 4G smartphone seemed to sit on shelves. Samsung followed up a 5G version of the Galaxy Z Flip and it had a $1450 price. Inevitably, this put both handsets well outside the reach of average consumers and has led to the slow adoption of foldables.
Now, Samsung is reducing the price of the Galaxy Z Flip to $1199 in hopes of boosting sales. Whilst this is a $250 price drop, it still makes for a pricey handset. One can argue that the price is on par with other flagship handsets but it’s still a dicey market for consumers. Meanwhile, Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 2, which folds horizontally instead of vertically, is selling for $1999.
