Earlier today Apple quietly updated the TimeCapsule product line. The latest models come in 2 TB and 3 TB versions, compared to the 1 TB and 2 TB versions offered previously. Other than that, the product appears to be unchanged. Apple also updated their flagship video suite, Final Cut Pro. The new version (shown above) is called Final Cut Pro X and Apple claims it has been completely rewritten from the group up to optimize performance.
Additionally, a rumor has been circulating about Mac mini and Mac Pro updates coming in August. Supposedly, the revamped models will include speed bumps and Thunderbolt ports. No new industrial design is expected. The Mac mini was last updated in June 2010 and the Mac Pro has not been updated since July 2010, so this rumor seems quite feasible. Hopefully they will also be accompanied by a price drop. Both of these products are currently overpriced in my opinion.
There have also been a variety of rumors connected to the next release of the MacBook Air (MBA) notebooks. Some have said the new models will ship in black, which would be an odd move, but sounds feasible. The rumor of adding Thunderbolt to the MBA’s has come up, but it’s been relatively quiet. Again, this update will likely be a refresh more so than an industrial redesign.
Evidently, some folks are not happy with the new version of Final Cut Pro. Yikes!
