This week’s geek is non other than Jimmy Wales. He is the founder of Wikipedia.com. Wales has a PhD in finance from Indiana University as well as a masters degree from the University of Alabama. In 1996, he formed Bomi with some others, which was essentially a web portal for guys. This site was criticized for content, but it led to his vision of an online encyclopedia (or instant access to the sum of all human knowledge as he called it). In 2000, Nupeida was released. This led to Wikipedia… and the rest is history.
