Lytro: A New Type Of Camera

Lytro: A New Type Of Camera

A company named Lytro has unveiled a radicaly new camera design for a new type of camera. This new device is a light field camera (LFC). That means… you can take the picture now, and focus it later. That’s right! There’s no need to focus the Lytro… ever. In fact, they have some samples on their website, so you can see how it works. In addition to being the world’s first portable LFC, the Lytro is a unique design which resembles a square tube. One end has the LED screen, while the other end has the lens. Along the body of the camera are the shutter release, USB jack, and power button. There is a non-slip rubber coating on part of the camera to allow it to be held easily. It is small, lightweight, and simple to use.

These new cameras feature either 8 GB or 16 GB of on-board storage and sell for $399 (available in blue or gray) & 499 (available in red only) respectively. I might need to pick one of these up. They look pretty darn cool!
