Apple Lossless Audio Codec Now Open Source

Apple announced yesterday that the Apple Losless Audio Codec (ALAC) will now be completely open source. This codec allows audio to be compressed and uncompressed with virtually no data loss. It is somewhat dated, but still widely used. Apple has transferred ownership of the license to the Apache Foundation and they setup a download page HERE. Linux geeks everywhere will be glad to hear this. icon smile Apple Lossless Audio Codec Now Open Source
