FCC Gives A Big Thumbs Down To AT&T/T-Mobile Deal

Earlier this year, AT&T announced plans to acquire T-Mobile. However, since then, there has been a lot of opposition to the merger for antitrust reasons. Sprint even filed a lawsuit against AT&T in an attempt to stop the deal. Earlier this week, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) held a meeting to discuss the proposed acquisition. After the hearing, they made an official statement saying the FCC does not support this union, and they will do what’s required to prevent it. This is a big ouch for AT&T.
