2012 Will Be Ballmer’s Last CES Keynote

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer took the stage at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2010 to show the world the HP Slate PCs. They were expected to ship by mid-year, but were not released until late October. Despite the hype, the Slate PCs had horrible sales and ultimately failed. He again took the stage at CES 2011 (pictured above) and basically did a repeat of the previous year. He talked about Windows Phone 7, Windows 7 tablets, Surface, and Xbox Live. The only one of these which has had any success is the Xbox platform. It is selling wonderfully. Ballmer will again be giving a keynote speech at CES 2012, but this will be his last. In fact, it will be Microsoft’s last. The software giant has announced they are withdrawing from CES entirely. Microsoft claims the dates of CES are out of sync with their product release cycles, and therefore it is an ineffective conference for them. Well, that’s good to know… we all thought it was an ineffective conference for them because of empty promises. icon wink 2012 Will Be Ballmers Last CES Keynote
