Tech giant Microsoft has presented the keynote speech at the Consumer Electronics show (CES) every year since 1998. They did it again yesterday, but this will be Microsoft’s swan song to CES. The company had previously announced they will not participate in CES next year. As a final sendoff, Microsoft has some original things planned for this year. First and foremost, the presentation was hosted by TV personality Ryan Seacrest. Secondly, they brought a gospel choir on stage to sing out some of the Tweets about CES and Microsoft. Ummm… am I the only one who thinks that’s kinda weird?
As expected, Ballmer talked at length about the Windows Phone and XBox platforms. He also talked a lot about Windows 8. Hmmm… this is sounding suspiciously like the keynote from last year. However, Ballmer did say something of ironic interest. He told the crowd that “nothing is more important to Microsoft than Windows.” While I think this is probably a true statement, their recent product announcements haven’t necessarily communicated that message to the consumer. Well… look at the bright side… we won’t have to hear the same old keynote next year.
