Samsung & Nokia: Sub-$100 Windows Phones Are Here!

After a lot of speculation, Nokia released the Lumia 900 last month. At $99 retail, it was the least expensive WP7-powered device to date. Earlier this week, Samsung unveiled the Focus 2 smartphone (shown above). This was Samsung’s first 4G Windows phone and it retails at a mere $50 (with 2 year contract). Both of these handsets run Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 (WP7) OS and both are available on the AT&T network. This move has left the tech world wondering… which is the better sub-$100 Windows Phone? It also begs the question… how cheap are Windows phones going to get? We may see FREE WP7 handsets in the future if sales don’t pick up. It also shows that Samsung is not content to watch Nokia be the “big dog” in this niche.
