IDC: Android To Peak In 2012, Then Decline

According to IDC (the same company who predicts WP7 will be #2 by 2015), Google’s Android OS will hit its peak in 2012. They predict Android will expand to a whopping 61% market share later this year, before it begins a gradual decline. By 2016, IDC expects Android to have only 52.9% market share. At the same time, they see Apple’s iOS reaching 20.5% this year, which will taper slightly to 19% by 2016. Needless to say, IDC thinks Windows Phone 7 (WP7) will pick up the slack advancing from 5.2% to 19.2% in the same time frame. The chart below shows this graphically.
