Windows 7 Becomes Most Popular OS Worldwide

Since Windows 7 was released in late 2009, the tech world has had a lot of good things to say about it. Even though reports indicated Windows 7 was the most popular OS in the US in 2011, eleven year old Windows XP has retained the top spot worldwide… until now. Following up on earlier predictions that Windows 7 would surpass Windows XP in 2012, the newest figures from Star Counter show Microsoft’s latest OS with a 50.2% market share.

Finally, XP’s reign has come to an end. Now, the real question is… will Windows 8 have an adoption rate similar to Windows 7? Or will it linger like Vista?
