IBM To Purchase SoftLayer For $2 Billion

IBM recently announced plans to acquire SoftLayer, a software company that specializes in cloud-based offerings. The $2,000,000,000 deal will give IBM a new division focusing solely on cloud services. Reportedly, IBM made this move to better compete with Amazon in this market. Erich Clementi of IBM said publicly, “With SoftLayer, IBM will accelerate the build-out of our public cloud infrastructure to give clients the broadest choice of cloud offerings to drive business innovation.” What do you think? Can IBM compete with Amazon?
