Google To Buy Nest For $3.2 Billion

In a press release earlier this week, Google announced plans to acquire Nest for $3.2 billion. Nest is a hardware company that makes connected home devices like smoke alarms and thermostats (one model is shown above). The company is associated with energy saving devices and they are a big player in the “connected home” business. Since the announcement, there has been a lot of speculation about the partnership and the future of Nest. Some believe the next incarnation of Nest devices will run Android. Others believe Nest may be integrated to the Google platform as an Android app. Still others believe this is a huge privacy concern. Would you let Android control your home?
