“Windows Azure” Will Soon Be “Microsoft Azure”

Microsoft has reportedly announced plans to re-brand their cloud computing platform, currently called Windows Azure. The new name will be Microsoft Azure and will likely take effect in April. Reportedly, Microsoft wants their cloud platform to be vendor agnostic, so they’re removing the word Windows from the product offering. This news follows the recent re-branding of SkyDrive in January. In that case however, the name change was due to a lawsuit.
