As a child growing up in Chicago, Tabriz says she was never exposed to computers. She didn’t realize she had a knack for IT until college. It all started when she had her website hacked. She attended some focus group meetings that were run by computer science students with an interest in website security. Needless to say, she took it quickly and the rest is (more or less) history. After attending the University of Illinois, Tabriz got her first security-related job in 2005 before taking an internship at Google in 2006. Then in 2007, she went to work for Google full-time and hasn’t looked back. Forbes Magazine featured her in their 30 Under 30 list of brilliant people to watch. Now she can add our prestigious GOTW nomination to her list of achievements.
