Microsoft Previews Windows 10

At the Microsoft event yesterday, the company demonstrated a preview version of the next Windows operating system. Originally code named Windows Threshold, everyone was expecting this one to be called Windows 9 or just plain Windows. Microsoft threw everyone for a loop when they unveiled the name… Windows 10. Evidently, the changes are so big, they felt is necessary to skip version 9 and go right to 10.

As previous screenshots depicted, the Start menu has made a triumphant return. Microsoft also unified the Windows platform, so it is one OS and one app store across many devices. That’s right. Your phone, laptop, and tablet can all run Windows 10. Microsoft claims to have shifted the focus back to the desktop while still maintaining the Live tile interface of Windows 8. In any case, this new OS looks promising. The Preview version of Windows 10 will be made available for download to members of Microsoft’s Windows Insider program. Curious? Join up and try it out for yourself.
