Google Glass Explorer Program Ends Next Week

We’ve been covering Google Glass since they released it back in 2012. We covered all the major milestones like when they first shipped to developers, when audio capabilities were added, and when Google officially added prescription lens support. In April of last year, Google made Glass available to anyone with an extra $1500. Now, the iconic product will pass a new milestone. As of January 19th, Google is ending the Glass Explorer Program. Does this mean Google is abandoning the product? No. It just means they’re done with version 1 and they’re moving on to the next phase. No details or timelines have been released for the future of Glass, but if you want a pair of the current Google augmented reality glasses you’d better act now. All sales of the product will cease this coming Monday.
