Tesla SW Update To Deliver Autonomous Functionality

We’ve been following the progress of self-driving cars for a while now. Many companies, including Nissan and Google, claim they’ll have self-driving cars on the road in the next few years. However, Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and SpaceX, has a different idea.

The Tesla Model S vehicles (shown above) will receive a software update within the next 90 days which will add some autonomous capabilities to the vehicle. Before you go thinking this is the next “Google car”, I should probably mentioned that the capabilities are limited. The autonomous functions only works for highway driving. The cars already included a sonar system and GPS navigation system, as well as a collision avoidance system. Now the software update is tying them all together to steer the car for you. Think of it as cruise control on steroids. icon wink Tesla SW Update To Deliver Autonomous Functionality
