NASA To Complete Second LDSD Test Tomorrow

Everyone probably remembers when NASA tested the Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator (LDSD) landing craft last summer. Well, the space agency is planning a second test at 1:30 PM EST tomorrow afternoon. Dubbed NASA’s flying saucer, the LDSD will be carried to 120,000 feet via a balloon and dropped back towards the Earth to test the landing capabilities. Based on data gathered from the last test, NASA’s engineers have redesigned the LDSD’s parachute. Tomorrow’s launch will vet the new design.
