Apple Vs. The FBI… A Slippery Slope For Privacy

Earlier this week, the FBI ordered Apple to willingly install a backdoor in the iOS operating system. This was a response to the recent terrorism events in San Bernadino and a seized iPhone containing potential evidence. Apple refused to work with the FBI citing potential repercussions from these actions. Privacy advocates like Edward Snowden, Steve Wozniak, Jack Dorsey, and others have sided with Apple on the decision. Meanwhile others have called Apple’s decision wrong or even disgraceful, this includes the Obama administration. Needless to say, this is a very slippery slope. However, most of the tech industry is siding with Apple. The fear is that government won’t use this backdoor for just a single device, but for any future case involving data on an iPhone.
