Apple “Loop You In” Event Wrap Up

Apple “Loop You In” Event Wrap Up

Earlier this month, we reported Apple was holding a special event on March 21. The event happened this morning and most of the rumors turned out to be correct. During the event, Apple dropped the starting price on the Apple Watch to $299 and released some new watch bands. The new pricing is effective today. The company also unveiled a new 4″  phone called the iPhone SE, which will go on sale before the end of March. The latest handset offerings will include the new SE model (4″), followed by the iPhone 6 (4.7″) and 6 Plus (5.5″), then the 6S (4.7″) and 6S plus (5.5″), in cost order.

Alongside the smartphone and smartwatch, Apple released iOS 9.3 and tvOS 9.2, which are both available for download today. Finally, Apple updated the iPad line with a new 10.7″ version of the iPad Pro. Like the larger incarnation, this iPad will support Apple Pencil stylus and have a detachable keyboard. Apple’s tablet lineup now shapes up like this: iPad mini 2 (7.9″), iPad mini 4 (7.9″), iPad Air 2 (9.7″), NEW iPad Pro (9.7″), and iPad Pro (12.9″). The 9.7″ iPad Pro will hit stores later this week and the rest are already available.

Despite the fact that two new products were released during this event, it still feels more like a “speed bump” announcement. There wasn’t a lot of “new” devices per se. It was more like updates to existing products or new products that fill a missing price point without any notable product changes.
