Nintendo To Cease Wii U Production This Year

Nintendo released Wii U in late 2012. They were hoping for great sales during the 2012 holiday shopping season. Unfortunately, the console did not sell as many units as they expected. By 2014, the company admitted the console was a flop, and now they may be sunsetting the product in 2016. Supposedly, the Mario maker has plans to cease production of Wii U later this year. Wii U may soon join the original NES, Sega Genesis, and Atari 2600 in the halls of retired video game systems. Nintendo fans can now concentrate on the upcoming NX system.
