Geek Of The Week: Shawn Fanning

Shawn Fanning became a nationwide name when he created Napster. Napster was a revolution in P2P file sharing and was a starting point for a lot of other P2P ideas to blossom, such as Bit Torrents. Shawn Fanning born in Massachusetts, went to Northeastern University, where he rarely went to to because he was busy developing Napster at his uncle’s office. He later was featured in Time Magazine and Wired Magazine. Napster, after many lawsuits, was bought by Best Buy.

Fanning has also created Rupture and SNOCAP, Two very popular services. One which was bought by imeem and the other bought by Electronic Arts.
