Is OpenOffice Going Away For Good?

For 16 years, there has been a ubiquitous open source alternative to Microsoft Office. Granted other options (e.g. LibreOffice) have come since, but OpenOffice was definitely the first and probably the most recognizable. Regardless, the productivity suite is growing a little long in the tooth and it’s days may be numbered. The Apache Foundation is seriously considering sunsetting the package in the near future. This could be the end of the road for OpenOffice.
