NASA To Launch OSIRIS-REx Today

NASA will launch the Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, Security – Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx for short) spacecraft this evening. It has a simple mission. The satellite will reach Bennu, a nearby asteroid, send a robot to the surface, gather samples, and return the data to Earth. The asteroid is thought to be 4.5 Billion years old, so samples could tell us new things about the history of the solar system.
