Nintendo Has Sold 196,000 NES Classic Editions!

Earlier this year, Nintendo announced they’d be releasing a tiny game console for the 2016 holiday season. The NES Classic Edition is a remake of the original NES in a much smaller format. Instead of using cartridges, the palm-szied unit has 30 classic Nintendo games pre-loaded. It resembles the original design, uses the original controllers, and sells for a mere $60. It was expected they would be hot gift items this holiday season. Indeed they are. Nintendo has sold 196,000 of them to date (in the US alone) and they are sold out at every major domestic retailer. That means the company sold more Classic Editions in one month than they did Wii U consoles during the entire second half of 2016.
