Is There A Future In Voice-Based Computing?

With the popularity of devices like Amazon Echo and Google Home, it appears voice-based computing is the way of the future. Digital assistants like Apple Sire and Google Now have also been popular. It seems like this field has a bright future as more and more people want to talk to their computing devices. However, I recently read an article that states the expectations of this functionality are far exceeding the capabilities. Personally, I know I spend more time angry at Siri than pleased with her, so the author may be on to something. Is voice-based computing the next big thing… or is it bound for extinction.
