Warning: You Can’t Run Chrome On Windows 10 S!

Microsoft jumped into the Chromebook market last week alongside the release of an updated OS known as Windows 10 S. The new version is nearly identical to Windows 10 but it only allows software to be installed via Microsoft’s App Store. While this sounds logical, keep in mind that Google, Apple, and several others have avoided this store due to it’s policies. The user agreement states, “Apps that browse the web must use the appropriate HTML and JavaScript engines provided by the Windows Platform.” Many browsers, Chrome for instance, do not comply to these standards. In other words, Chrome will not be listed in the Windows App Store until Google completely rewrites it… and you can probably guess how quickly that will happen. The net of this is that you’ll probably never be able to run Chrome on Windows 10 S. This may be a serious problem for Microsoft.
